Anyway, we had three more tuffets created at Quilt-agious in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. Judy, Pat and Michelle made lovely tuffets! By they way, if you haven't ever been to Quilt-agious, you should go, especially if you love modern fabric. If your GPS lands you in a parking lot you're not expecting, check across the street. You don't want to miss this shop!
You know, I'm really running out of names for these tuffet posts! But I still want to share all of them with you. I may have to get creative.

You may or may not know this, but in my spare time, I make skating costumes for synchronized skating teams (as well as for individuals). This is my very busy time of year. I'm making 35 costumes this season and they're due in the next couple of weeks. So I've been working on those nearly every waking hour. Because I tend to make them in assembly line fashion, there's not too much to show... yet. I'll have lots of photos of those in, oh about two weeks. In the meantime I've been very lax about posting about tuffet classes. It's time to remedy that! I'll publish a new post every few days to catch up. I added a new shop to my tuffet route -- Patches and Petals in Belleville, Wisconsin. I've taught there before, but tuffets are a new addition. What variety in their tuffets! Let's take a closer look... So pretty! Patches and Petals is in a really old building with lots of character. Here are the class tuffets lined up on their stairs. Lovely!
I was so happy to get to go on a quilting retreat with some wonderful women in the Madison Modern Quilt Guild this past weekend! The location was beautiful -- the Jones Mansion in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. I stayed up way too late, laughed until tears came out of my eyes, and got a lot of sewing done. What I didn't do was take photos over the weekend. Darn it. And a lot of what I worked on is not yet finished. But I did finish these two t-shirt quilt samples for Quintessential Quilts. I will have classes scheduled there very soon! They make great graduation gifts. These two aren't yet quilted, but the tops are done. I'll post them again after they're really finished! Good news: I also plan to write up my method for these as a tutorial or pattern. Which do you prefer?
Some new tuffets come out of Quintessential Quilts in Reedsburg this past weekend. Canada was working on her second tuffet, and Marge was finishing up her first. Canada brought her first along as well as I didn't get a chance to photograph it when it was completed. Lovely job, ladies!
I had three people finish tuffets at Quilt-agious in Mukwonago last week. Two of them took back to back finishing classes, making two each, and another made her third tuffet! That makes three people who have finished three tuffets! I'm so proud of them! First up is Sandy's (third) tuffet. She made it from fabric that belonged to a friend who passed away. What a special way to commemorate her friend. Next we have Lynn's two finishes. Both are Kaffe Fasset tuffets. They use a similar palette of colors, but they are both beautiful. Rachel also made two tuffets, her second and third. She took her first class not long ago! I'd say she's hooked. I've had a few people ask me if I've ever seen one come out badly, and I have to say, I haven't! Sometimes I'm not so sure based on the fabric someone chooses, but they always come out beautifully!
Last week at Quilt-agious in Mukwonago, three students finished up their wedges and began piecing together some beautiful Lone Star quilts. They got pretty far! I expect we'll see some finished quilt tops soon! We also had a big tuffet class finish. I was unable to get a full group photo because we were having too much fun and ran late, but I did get all of their tuffets. Here are all of the photos...
This weekend at Quintessential Quilts in Madison, eight tuffets were created by eight exhausted tuffeteers! They sewed throughout Saturday and did their finishing on Sunday. I can't tell you how impressed I am with their work! I usually love to include lots of action shots, but we were so busy, I didn't get a chance to take many. But I got one! Are you itching to take a tuffet class? Check out the schedule on my classes page. If you have a shop or guild within a few hours' drive from Madison, I'd be happy to come and teach your group!
We had some repeat tuffeteers at Quilt-agious in Mukwonago! These ladies are quickly becoming experts. If you've already taken the tuffet class, you can sign up for Tuffet II (or Tuffet Finishing) and do your sewing at home. On the same day another group finished up our Tula Pink class. We worked on some blocks from her book, 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. We didn't make all 100 blocks, but I have photos of a few! If you're in the Mukwonago area and are interested in the Tula Pink blocks, Quilt-agoius is starting a club. Give them a call!
This weekend, a few friends and I got together to make tuffets at my house. Carrie wasn't able to finish, but we have two other happy tuffet makers! We had some repeat tuffeteers at Quintessential Quilts in Reedsburg recently. You know, it's hard to stop at just one, just like potato chips. Big, giant, upholstered potato chips. We had a different kind of tuffet class this past weekend. Instead of doing two classes separated by a week or two for homework, we had one longer first day and then finished the next. So all of these ladies made their tuffets in two days, despite the high heat and humidity. All five of these tuffets were made using eight fat quarters. And all of them feature at least a little bit of Kaffe Fassetr (or Brandon, or Philip) fabrics!
In the last post I talked about the first of the eleven students in two days; today: Reedsburg! Specifically, Quintessential Quilts in Reedsburg. Don't ask me why, but somehow I didn't get everyone's individual tuffets photographed. I hope to rectify that very soon! ......aaaaand I need to chase down the tuffets I failed to photograph. Coming soon I hope!
It's been a busy summer here in Wisconsin! This past Tuesday, we had a wonderful group of ladies who made some wonderful tuffets at Quilt-agious in Ripon. Such a fun group! Let's check out their tuffets one by one: Somehow I missed getting a photo of Sandy's tuffet from above. Time for me to hunt her down!
Next post: more tuffets, this time from Reedsburg! It was a beautiful day yesterday, and it was a beautiful day to finish tuffets! Lynne and JoAnn finished these two beauties at Bungalow Quilting and Yarn in Ripon yesterday. I also couldn't resist doing a little shopping myself. I really love all of the fabric at Bungalow. If I lived closer, it would be very dangerous!
We had a nice size class at Quilt-agious that finished yesterday. Six tuffets! Today we had another tuffet finishing class, this time at Bungalow Quilting and Yarn in Ripon, Wisconsin. If you ever get a chance to visit the area, you should make a point to stop at Bungalow because every fabric they have is gorgeous. And if you enjoy knitting or crocheting, they have a ton of beautiful yarn, too! Only two finishes today due to some unforeseen circumstances, but that will all be rectified next Thursday. I promise! But the two we have, oh, they are stunning. I'll include extra photos just because I'm in a good mood. We had a great group of tuffet students at Quilt-agious in Mukwonago today! Everyone had great fun and ... oh, never mind, let's get to the photos! We had finishes at different times, so no big group photo. But that's okay! Let's check out the closeups. One of these days I'll remember that the lens on my phone is not right in the middle of my phone. Sorry for the slightly lopsided photos! Another successful group of tuffeteers! Quilt-agious has another class finishing Saturday. If you haven't been to the shop yet, you should really check it out. Beautiful fabrics!
It's been a busy week here! I've had a total of sixteen student in the past week! Two classes have been at Quilt-agious in Mukwonago and one class at Bungalow Quilting and Yarn in Ripon. All of the students have been wonderful and they are making great progress! Stay tuned for lots of photos. We finish up Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I'm so excited to show you these new tuffets!
In the meantime, if you aren't close enough to take a class with me, check out my shop. I've added new feet and the option to buy an already-built tuffet form that just needs to be covered. We had a very fun, yet small, tuffet class at Quintessential Quilts in Madison. This shop is so excited about tuffets that they wanted a class right away. So we did! Why wait for the fun, after all? We had three students, but we sure had a lot of fun! If you haven't been to Quintessential Quilts in Madison and know them as primarily a machine shop, you should stop in -- they're adding lots of fabric and have a beautiful new classroom. Hmmm. One of these things is not like the other! Well, Cheryl had a very good excuse for not having her tuffet homework done. The day after the first class, she had a new granddaughter! Of course we had to see photos before anything else. If that's not a good excuse to not have your homework done, I don't know what is! Let's take a closer look at the tuffets. There are lots of other tuffet classes (and other kinds of classes) on my calendar page. If you don't see a class near you, let me know! If you're not near a TuffetSource affiliate and want to make your own, visit my store.
And now for something not related to tuffets and tuffet supplies: I'm working on a Lone Star quilt for Quilt-agious. I don't know when the class will be scheduled yet, but I'll let you know! It's based on a QuiltSmart foundation. I love how close the points are. And there are no diamonds to cut or sew; instead it employs a stitch, flip, trim method. The perfect points come from sewing on a line and it's pretty darn near perfect every time. Because the star is fused into lightweight interfacing, it's stiffer than if it were just fabric. I'm not sure how that will feel in the end. I'll keep this one small to test it out and report back. I can't decide what to do for the background. I want to make it special. Maybe I'll be able to find ombré or something unsual. This past Thursday, four fun ladies in Mukwonago completed their very first tuffets! It was rainy outside, but everything inside Quilt-agious was bright and cheery! The finished products were just beautiful! Here is everyone holding their pride and joy. Let's take a closer look at each one, shall we? I love doing this. They are all so different! The Second Sue also used drapery fringe to cover the staples and add a dramatic element. Check this out! Congratulations to all of the tuffetteers!
My first group of students just finished their first class! They are all staff at Quilt-agious, a wonderful, bright, modern shop in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. Here are a few photos of them in action! Part of the fun of this class is working together! Danielle's tuffet is full of golden, geometric elegance. Penny is the shop owner. She chose beautiful autumn colors. Her pansy button is so pretty! Karen made her tuffet from blues and Browns. I think her button was the perfect fabric choice. And last but certainly not least, Kris made hers from brights. Again, the best button fabric! She also chose unfinished feet, which she plans to paint. I can't wait to see them! I know! They're getting out of hand! But this is another class sample. I have a few more to make and then I'll be back to quilts and costumes. This one features a lot of Moda fabrics again. But there are others thrown in there too. I love the deer button. I finished the rainbow tuffet. It has 64 different fabrics in it! It will hang out at the Electric Needle on Odana Rd. in Madison for a while. I'll be teaching there in July! And I love the feet. They're different from the others I've used before. I can't wait to start teaching! I do a "practice run" on the staff at Quilt-agious next week (poor, poor guinea pigs). I have three customer classes scheduled there, starting in less than two weeks! |
