Tuffet fabric requirements
Do you want to build your own tuffet? Here's what you will need:
For the tuffet top
64 strips of fabric measuring 2" x approximately 20". The easiest way to achieve this is to use the following:
Of course, you can cut 64 individual strips. I've done that myself!
For the tuffet bottom
1 fat quarter or a piece of fabric measuring approximately 18" square (note: when students use jelly rolls/strip rolls, they can sew together the leftovers to make a strippy bottom)
For the button
a 6 inch square of fabric

For the tuffet top
64 strips of fabric measuring 2" x approximately 20". The easiest way to achieve this is to use the following:
- 1 standard jelly roll/strip roll - you can cut the strips in half on the fold and you will have more than enough strips. There is no need to trim the strips down to 2" in this case. Keep in mind that if your jelly roll/strip roll has fewer than 32 strips in it, you will need to supplement with additional fabric.
- 8 fat quarters -- these can be cut into 8 strips that are 2" each.
- Yardage equaling 2 yards

- Fusible fleece or a scrap of batting. This is used to "pad" the bottom of the tuffet so that cording knots are felt less. It is not necessary, but is a nice way to finish. This is not to be confused with the upholstery batting which is part of the kit.
- 1 1/3 yards of trim to cover staples. The best trim to use should be able to go around a curve. Typical ribbon does not have the ability to flex and so will create puckers. However, ric-rack works great!
